Subject: RE: I can't believe it! Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2002 07:25:44 -0700 From: "Mack, Eric" To: "B. J. Tetreault" It looks like Tracy and Rob will be able to make Starts and Bars but on Saturday only. I have found an other crew member that is interested in Saturday. No experience, but learns quickly. I will also contact Gail and see if she is interested. I am thinking that we will only race on the one day (Saturday) unless we can find an other bow person. Not that you didn't do an excellent job, but we don't have any trimmers either. -----Original Message----- From: B. J. Eric- I can believe it - when we sailed into that parking lot (that the leaders had already reached) at Spring Beach, it was almost a new race. Also, I looked at the GPS plot of the race, and we didn't sail too much further than we would have on a straight line to the second mark (but of course we would have been a lot closer to Ken if we had). I felt we were always in the race - kept the boat moving (even in .5kt of breeze!) and stayed pretty focused on the race. 6th overall is pretty nice - any pickle dish for that? I doubt it... Count me in for both days of the Stars and Bars, and I'll see if I can rustle up some crew to take over for the birthday slackers (unless they want to invite us along for the trip to Whistler ;-) ). The thing that is so hard to believe is that we were only 2 mins and 20 secs behind Ken and only 2 mins and 35 secs behind Breeze. AND we sailed AT LEAST an extra mile out of our way. Now HOW did THAT happen? >We got 6th overall. We beat Scooter, Synge, Here and Now, the Olson 30s. Wow whee. >Guess that somewhere out there we found a groove that the others did not. Great job folks. >Now for the bad news. Well, bad for you (especially for Brian, who will probably have some home task >from Nina that he will now have to do), but good news for me. I am going to the Oregon Coast this weekend and I won't be racing. With us being short and the weather being spectacular, I am going to take a relaxing weekend on the shore. >The next race is the following weekend and will be both Saturday and Sunday. This is the SYC Stars and Bars regatta. This is a multi race, short course, buoy format regatta. The first warnings will be 10AM, so that will have to leave the dock at 9:40 at the latest. Then again, we could miss the first race if that would accommodate people. Please let me know if you are available/interested. >Thanks and see you next weekend. >Eric Mack >Process Owner of Capacity Planning >Amazon.com >emack@amazon.com >206.266.4830
