mac
i have a blue and white G3. mostly stock
although i've upgraded the RAM to be able to run more applications
without having to use virtual memory.
peripherals (all usb or firewire):
- epson stylus color 900 printer
- epson perfection 1250 scanner -
finally got it working on 25jan03. I was getting this "twain driver"
warning when i tried using it.
i uninstalled and reinstalled the extensions, drivers and
supporting software, all to no avail. then i finally found a
passing mention on a support page about the need to disconnect the
scanner before reloading the TWAIN files. i diisconnected the
scanner, reinstalled everything, connected the scanner and
restarted, and all was well. here's
one of the first images i scanned. the true quality is much better; i dumbed
this one down from 300 dpi to 72.
- quefire 12x10x32x cdrw - firewire -
great cd burner
- efilm reader-4 - smart media reader
(for olympus digital camera)
- irex kritter camera - just playing
with this, possibly to use as a webcam. got it real cheap at repc - if i get serious i'll have to upgrade to
something much better. suggestions?
- ipod - firewire
- also have a palm hotsync cradle connected via a keyspan
serial-to-usb adapter - not had much luck using this with my palm,
so primarily hotsync on my work computer.
software:
- mac os 9.2.2 - this os has been a
curse and a blessing in disguise - or an example of hard love. all
the grief it's caused me has forced me to learn more about my
computer. and of course the more you know, the more you realize
you need to learn...
- netscape navigator 4.08 - yes, I am
actually using a browser that is 5 years old.
- adobe photoshop - i won't even tell
you how old this one is
- itunes 2.04 - the only reason i'm not using itunes 3
is that i haven't upgraded to mac os x yet. seeing as this is the
most up to date piece of software on my computer, you can see
where my priorities lie.
- ms office suite 98 (word, excel,
powerpoint) - i am still amazed at the ease with which i use files
on both my mac and my wintel machine at work.
- virtualpc 3.0 - i need this to run
arcview (well, "run" is a pretty strong term...) and
more importantly, virtual
spectator so i can watch the
america's
cup races live.
this site is created using an ancient
version of claris home page, which was given to me by a mac devotee
when I returned to mac from wandering in the wintel wilderness in
1999.
i'm playing around with this color
scheme.
